Life & Other Things

Overseas or not…?

This question has been coming up constantly inside my head for the last 6 months – to move and work abroad for a year, just. one. year. People that have done it talk about it and encourage me to do it but really I just don’t think I can – no not because I wouldn’t be able to make it on my own, because I’m sure boarding school and living alone for the last 5 years has definitely assisted in my independence 🙂

I would LOVE to go overseas, but really when I think about the idea of ‘dropping’ everything in my life right now I could think of nothing worse. My career, South Africa, all the stuff I have collected over the last few years and being so far away from my parents the idea just doesn’t seem so glamorous anymore!

I work in the perfect industry and it wouldn’t be difficult to find a job in a Hotel in the UK for a year, but here in SA I love my work, and I want to take my career somewhere and can’t wait for it to get there! The work and family ethos in my Company probably also has a huge impact on it as well.

Going on Holiday for a few weeks overseas – definitely and that is something I am going to start saving for 🙂 I love South Africa and I do not think I could leave this country for more than a period of 1 – 2 months. Plus what my parents say is right, I would not be able to be away from the structure of work for too long, I am not a drifter and get bored easily.

Ireland, Belgium, Italy, England, Austria, Paris, Greece, Dubai, America etc. – ONE DAY & all 1 at a time 🙂

And it all starts right here with Contiki Tours 😉 Time to start saving!

Wish I had won the Cosmo Thailand Contiki Tour!

Belgium – best Chocolate in the World!

Italy – WOW those colours!!

Greece – the blue… it’s stunning 🙂

Ireland! Hmm…!

Dubai is this a yay or nay…?

Of course all of this travelling needs to include a few kisses!

  1. It’s actually what I’m doing. I was lucky enough to be able to pick up a job with my company (Flight Centre) in Hong Kong, and I’m picking up and moving. I’m excited, scared, unsure, every emotion you can imagine, but I’m sure it will be an experience to remember.
I haven’t got there yet, but I recommend it 🙂

    • Wow, you sound like you’ve got quite the lucky break there! For now I am just going to save and travel 🙂 I am very jealous of you! I hope you enjoy it. If you have a blog send me the link!

  2. What a decision, and a good one at that! We are behind you all the way and wish your dreams become ALOT of reality. You have our vote and contribution x
